Consequences: In 2021 the state of Missouri became the last state in the U.S. to adopt a mandatory PDMP, despite opposition from groups like AAPS who see PDMPs as yet another unconstitutional intrusion into the patient-physician relationship. This database of patient prescriptions is purportedly designed to reduce doctor shopping for opioids. But are these programs succeeding in reducing the problem? John D. Lilly, DO, MBA has been studying the data and will share insights on the real story about PDMPs.
