AAPS Supports Ohio Health Care Freedom Act – H.B. 91

To: State Representative Ron Young, Ohio House District 61

Dear Rep. Young:

The Affordable Care Act, sometimes known as ObamaCare, violates the rights of Ohio’s citizens by allowing the Federal Government to interfere with medical care. Since medical care or healthcare is nowhere found in the U.S. Constitution, such meddling by the Federal Government is blatantly illegal. Furthermore, the mandates of ObamaCare provide for fines/taxes to be imposed upon Ohio’s citizens for failing to purchase a product (health care insurance) that might not be needed or desired.

ObamaCare violates provisions of Ohio’s Constitution in the Health Care Freedom Amendment, which protects Ohio employers and workers from penalties applied by the Federal Government for failing to purchase required health insurance products.

Thank you for introducing Ohio H.B. 91, a very ingenious bill that actually supports provisions in the ObamaCare legislation mandating that insurers providing these products be in good standing and licensed by their respective states. Ohio H.B. 91 precludes the invasion of ObamaCare into Ohio and thus protects Ohio’s Constitutional Amendment as well as all Ohio’s citizens from this central government intrusion.

It is our sincere desire that H.B. 91 be adopted in Ohio, and furthermore, that it will spread to other states that likewise wish to protect their citizens. As you well know, Washington’s supposed funding of Medicaid expansion is evanescent, and would quickly expose Ohio’s budget to a disaster of titanic proportions.

The Association of American Physicians and Surgeons has been representing U.S. physicians and patients for 70 years. We salute you for defending these individual rights and liberties.

Sincerely,

Jane Orient, MD
