Building Momentum Toward Full ObamaCare Repeal

Paul Ryan was just named the Speaker of the House. He has a hard job in front of him, but the good news is he has a history of advocating against third party interference in health care.

We are happy to see Speaker Ryan express his readiness, as a focus of his new position, to bring Republicans together on repealing ObamaCare and passing legislation that will empower patients and their physicians instead of bureaucrats.

However, we need to help the Speaker build momentum towards this crucial goal. Please contact the DC office of your House member TODAY in support of HR 2597 the Accelerating Innovation in Medicine (AIM) Act.  Also ask your Representative to encourage Speaker Ryan to support the bill.

Here are talking points to use when speaking to your House member's staff about HR 2597, the Accelerating Innovation in Medicine ACT:

  • Patients should have the right to purchase medical devices (and care) that they need with their own money.
  • AAPS, representing physicians and patients nationwide, supports HR 2597.
  • It is alarming that a bill is needed to allow patients the right to pay out of pocket.
  • Request that your Representative co-sponsor HR 2597.
  • Request that your Representative ask Speaker Ryan to support HR 2597.

This bill cuts through the bureaucratic red tape hindering Medicare patients' ability to pay for some medical devices out of pocket. This is a simple change, a small change, but it is an important policy change. It is appalling that over-regulation blocks patients from using their own money to pay for medical devices in some cases or medical care in others. This bill begins to right this wrong. In addition, if we can start this bill moving forward, it will help establish the right narrative for full repeal of ObamaCare.
