On the same day HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius testified before a congressional committee on the failings of Healthcare.gov, a memo was released from a contractor to CMS administrator Marilyn Tavenner which stated not all of the security controls were tested before launch with the website(Washington Post).

President Obama is imploring young people, under the age of 34, to sign up for health coverage. If young people sign up to the risk pools in underwhelming numbers, the exchanges will not be sustainable (CNN).

President Obama said in a speech in Boston on Wednesday that Republicans were “grossly misleading” their constituents on the Affordable Care Act (Washington Post). He also mentioned the success of Massachusetts’ universal health care law enacted by former Governor Mitt Romney and how that was used as a template for the Affordable Care Act (TIME).

When asked how many people had enrolled in the exchanges up to this point, Kathleen Sebelius said there is currently “no reliable data” to report (Los Angeles Times).

With thousands of cancellation notices being received by Americans for their current health insurance plans, Kathleen Sebelius told the Energy & Commerce Committee point blank yesterday that President Obama was keeping his promise of Americans being able to keep their insurance plans if they liked them (FOX News).

Half of the states have adopted the Medicaid expansion outlined in the Affordable Care Act, while the other 25 states are still deciding whether to adopt it. Many of them are expected to do so (CBS News).
