NJ Bill Chokes Off Out-of-Network Options, testifies AAPS

AAPS General Counsel Andrew Schlafly testified at the NJ Captiol in Trenton on November 23 against A4444, a bill to limit out-of-network billing by allowing insurance companies to force the bills into arbitration.

Mr. Schlafly states: “The bill leaves insurers in a strong position to use arbitration to lower payments. Doctors would either be forced to accept whatever the insurer is offering to be in the insurer’s network, or risk being paid less if they remain out-of-network. This bill really chokes off the option of going out-of-network.”
