Three important bills are on the agenda of the Texas Senate Health and Human Services Committee meeting to be held April 1 in Austin.
SB 2207 (by Sen. Hall) is a good bill to stop the Texas Medical Board’s (TMB) harmful policy that restricts the ability of physicians to advertise they are board certified without paying ongoing fees and complying with red tape that detracts from patient care.
SB 2422 (Sen. Hall) and SB 883 (Sen. Paxton and Sen. Hall) would help protect physicians from improper discipline from the Texas Medical Board (and other state agencies) related to advocacy for, or prescribing of, off label drugs for COVID. SB 2422 also prohibits doctors from being punished for statements questioning the efficacy of masks or failure to use masks.
If you are a physician or patient that has been impacted by issues addressed by the above bills, and are able to testify in person (or submit a written statement) in support of any of these bills, please contact Charlotte Lannon a member of Sen. Bob Hall’s staff. She can be reached at 512-463-0102, or by email at [email protected].
