A Voice for Private Physicians Since 1943

AAPS Endorses Annette Teijeiro, MD for NV Senate District 5

The Association of American Physicians & Surgeons (AAPS), a voice for private medicine since 1943, gives its strongest endorsement to Republican grassroots candidate Annette Teijeiro, M.D., in Nevada Senate District 5. AAPS was the only medical society to file five briefs with the U.S. Supreme Court against ObamaCare, and Annette is the only candidate who will protect patients against bad ObamaCare-like policies.

Annette is in private practice as an anesthesiologist, and has helped improve the lives of thousands of patients. She is a longtime Nevada resident who went to high school, college and medical school here, and served with distinction as the President of the Clark County Medical Society. In addition, she has a beautiful family with three children.

Most importantly for voters, Annette will stand up for patients and against the increasing government interference with the practice of ethical medicine. Once elected she will defend patients – everyone – in the Nevada legislature.

Annette is precisely the kind of candidate we need to send to the state legislature. We have far too many “establishment types” who, like her opponent, continue political business as usual.

Nevada Senate Seat 5 is majority Democratic and so the Republican nominee needs to appeal to traditionally Democratic voters. And Annette Teijeiro does, having served Democratic patients for years before running for this office. An Hispanic, Annette has strong appeal for many Democratic voters, just as the Hispanic Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval did in winning a landslide victory against Harry Reid’s son.

Even the Las Vegas Review-Journal, which is not known to be friendly to conservative candidates like Annette, wrote a positive story about her candidacy in February. It featured a picture of her campaigning door-to-door, which is what we need to see in our politicians.

Annette’s older opponent, Steve Kirk, already had his chance as a mayor but was tossed out of office by the voters. He still has connections inside the Republican Party, but instead we need someone who will serve the people. Annette is a winner and she has the full endorsement of the Association of American Physicians & Surgeons. We met with Annette during our conference in Las Vegas in January and we are confident that voters will be as impressed with Annette as we are.

AAPS has long had members in Nevada, where it has held several conferences, including one on January 20 in Las Vegas.
