The 2,000-page “Obamacare” agenda is stalled, but some want to try to jump-start “reform.” Republicans introduced a 200-page substitute for H.R. 3962, which failed on a vote of 176 to 258. Now the President plans to meet with Republican congressional leaders. “A bipartisan clunker is still a clunker,” says George Watson, D.O., President of the […]
Dr. Robert Lowry of Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas, an AAPS member since 1999, has been endorsed by Ron Paul in his run to represent the 23rd district in Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives. He writes: “Most of my political stance comes right from the pages of the AAPS Journal.” You way wish to […]
AMA Doesn’t Speak for Most Doctors by Dr. Lee Hieb 01/05/2010 The American Medical Association officially endorsed the Democrats’ health reform bill. An eager Barack Obama, of course, used this endorsement to claim that “doctors” support his healthcare takeover. This misleading statement plays on the common misperception that the AMA represents some huge block of […]
The Sunday edition of the Chicago Tribune explains why the AMA may be supporting Washington’s takeover of medical care in the United States despite the uproar of physicians and patients. “As Democrats tout the American Medical Association’s endorsement of their health care overhaul, critics are pointing to their studious sidestepping of a little-known monopoly (on medical billing codes) that sends millions […]
In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), AMA Executive Vice President Michael Maves, while withholding endorsement, expresses support for many features of the bill: Huge premium increases for some. The AMA supports guaranteed issue, modified community rating, removal of limits on pre-existing conditions, and “nondiscrimination based on health status.” All of these […]
Tell Congress “Vote NO on HR 3961” Doc Fix Bill NOT What the Doctor Ordered. Payoff to AMA for HR 3962 Endorsement? Survey shows MONEY is not primary concern of doctors, but government interference is.

But if representation follows revenues, the AMA’s most important customer is probably the federal government. In1983, an agreement between the Health Care Financing Administration (HCFA) and the AMA made the AMA’s copyrighted Current Procedural Terminology codes (CPT) the sole coding system that […]
In his address to Congress on health care reform, Barack Obama cited Alabama as a state in which almost 90% of health insurance is controlled by one company. “[A]n additional step we can take to keep insurance companies honest is by making a not-for-profit public option available in the insurance exchanges.” The “People Before Profits” […]
Nurses win temporary injunction against influenza vaccine; Canadians suspend seasonal flu shots; firemen refuse H1N1 vaccine
Some states are passing laws to expand the powers of public health authorities to force people to submit to mass immunizations: for example, Pennsylvania House Bill 492 and Massachusetts (WorldNetDaily 10/12/09). But public health campaigns to get everybody immunized against both seasonal influenza and swine flu (novel H1N1) are running into opposition.
Transparency having become an early casualty in the process of driving through “health care reform” despite rising opposition, the Senate Finance Committee chaired by Max Baucus (D-MT) is marking up a shell bill, a 200+ page outline.
