C’mon, there is no middle (neutral) ground. One’s religion is one’s belief. All legislation is religious. It is inherently about morality. In the final analysis, it is about right versus wrong. The Constitution embodied the belief, the conviction, and the religion of its endorsers more than two hundred years ago; and today exhibits (in the laws passed by and their actions and words) the belief, the conviction, and the religion of present office holders.
A Congressman’s vote reveals outwardly, publicly what is his belief/religion secretly, inwardly. By his vote ye shall know him. As he votes, so is he. By this yardstick, vote-swapping is unscrupulous.
To not be ruled by unchanging, infallible God leaves the only other alternative — to be ruled by fickle, fallible men. Ipso facto, the removal of God is the removal of good and the inevitable, eventual devolution to evil. Three generations have been reared in this nation where God has been illegally outlawed in schools, public buildings, and public activities. That is the reason for the current epidemic of open lawlessness and rampant violence.
History verifies the Scripture that left to their own devices (i.e., without God), the minds of people turn to evil (Genesis 6:5). So people have to be taught, educated, admonished, motivated by word and example to be/do good and that good is impossible, absent the author of good — God. That was the understood-as-a-given purpose of and the obligation of parents, churches, education when America was conceived — to instill self-control, resoluteness, right, principle, valor, determination. Government invasion into each of these forbidden spheres “doest best explain our present sad condition.”
Thus, it is no wonder, and there is no mystery, why evil prevails in America – God (good) has been legislated, regulated, decreed, Federal Registered “out!” This attestation gives the only real solution to the hand wringing question we so often hear – “Why all the evil, lawlessness, murder, terror, drug culture, indiscriminate violence, rape, robbery, lewdness, lying, cheating, obscenity, immorality, vulgarity, etc.?” Of the multitudinous pseudo-answers propounded no one comes even close to the real/only correction because God (Go[o]d) is never the key given. Only hollow, abstract, God-avoiding, Constitution-ignoring platitudes are mouthed.
No real progress can ever be made in curbing evil until the incarnate personification of good — the Triune God — is again enthroned as the Creator, Law Giver, and ultimate Righteous Judge — in the home, in church, in school, at play, in the theater, on TV, on the Internet, in movies, at work, in sports, in the seats of the three branches of government, in the hearts of children, women, and men. And the embodiment of His Law in the Constitution is again back in full force and effect.
If (1) there is no God, there are no Laws of God; if (2) there is no Creator; if (3) by random biologic evolution as has been proposed and widely accepted, humans are just animals; then “what the hell,” why should we beasts discipline ourselves, be ladies and gentlemen, control our lusts, forego our desires? If we are animals it is just natural for us to live like beasts.
Likewise, right is not determined by a poll, or majority vote, or consensus. On the contrary, right is determined for people by God’s Law as laid down in His Word. “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; that the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works” (2nd Timothy 3:16-17).
And right for government is not determined by a poll, or consensus, or majority vote (even of “the Court”). On the contrary, right for government is laid down “plain and simple” in the Constitution which embodies God’s Law. “This Constitution…shall be the supreme Law of the Land,” quoted verbatim from The Constitution of these American States in Union, Article VI, paragraph 2.
We have come full circle and will end where we began with the lexicology of “secure.”(1)
The word/concept of “secure” appears only once in the Declaration of Independence: paragraph 2, “Governments…are instituted…to secure…the unalienable Rights…Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness” — and only three times in the Constitution: 1) the Preamble as quoted below in the conclusion; 2) Article I, Section 8, paragraph 8 regarding “securing… the exclusive Right to…” patents and copyright; and 3) Amendment VI “…to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures…”
The “American dream,” the “American experiment” is not security, but freedom. On the other hand, the welfare state, America at present, is built on political promises of security (from “want,” “fear,” “discrimination,” “war,” “poverty,” “hunger,” “ignorance,” etc.).
Prison is secure. Clothing is provided; food, shelter, recreation, hot and cold running water, etc. And the doors and windows are securely locked. And/but there is no freedom.
Socialism promises all of these — each one for the giving up of a freedom — in the end, life itself. Prominent Fabian socialist George Bernard Shaw wrote, “I also made it quite clear that Socialism means equality of income or nothing, and that under Socialism you would not be allowed to be poor. You would be forcibly fed, clothed, lodged, taught, and employed whether you like it or not. If it were discovered that you had not character and industry enough to be worth all this trouble, you might possibly be executed in a kindly manner; but whilst you were permitted to live you would have to live well.”(2)
In conclusion, lexicology of the Constitution needs to be comprehended, restored, employed, and applied so as to enjoy “…a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity….”
