GOOD NEWS! Thanks to your help, SB 1184 / HB 687 was approved in a hearing by the Florida State Senate Committee on Health Policy on January 26th!
While this was a nice win, time is short to get the bills across the finish line before the end of the Florida legislative session!
As a reminder, Senate Bill 1184, and its companion bill in the Florida House, HB 687, are measures, that if passed, will help protect the licensure and board certification of physicians from sanction based on free speech on social media.
The push to punish our profession for belief that there are only two genders, that early treatment for Covid-19 saves lives, and that cloth masks don’t prevent transmission of respiratory viruses must end and it starts with this bill.
It is crucial that the Florida House of Representatives Professions & Public Health Subcommitteeadd HR 687/ SB 1184 to the agenda for their next meeting the week of Feb. 7. If they fail to consider the bill by next week, it may be dead.
Please send the committee members a note telling them why you support the bill and encouraging them to consider and approve the bill as soon as possible.
