WHEREAS, hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) has been safely used as an FDA-approved medication for 65 years;
WHEREAS, countries that encourage HCQ use for COVID-19 have lower mortality rates than the United States and other countries that have interfered with its use;
WHEREAS, President Trump and other world leaders have successfully taken HCQ as a prophylaxis;
WHEREAS, a study shows that HCQ is effective as a prophylaxis against COVID-19;
WHEREAS, studies also show that HCQ is effective as an early treatment against COViD-19;
WHEREAS, nearly 100 million doses of HCQ were donated to the federal stockpile for use against COVID-19;
WHEREAS, the federal government has not made this stockpile of HCQ available to the American people; and
WHEREAS, federal and state governments have interfered with access by the American people to HCQ from pharmacies;
BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED THAT:
President Trump should release immediately the stockpile of HCQ to the American people; and
President Trump should issue an executive order forbidding any interference with public access to HCQ.
