At a press conference on May 19, Arthur Robinson, Ph.D., announced the release of the names of 32,000 scientists who have signed a strongly worded petition dissenting from the alarmist assertions of Al Gore and the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). Fears of catastrophic human-caused global warming, requiring draconian energy rationing, are the basis for policies supported by all three leading Presidential candidates: Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton, and John McCain.
Al Gore claims that “the debate is over,” and that there are only a “few” remaining “skeptics.”
“In Ph.D. scientist signers alone, the project already includes 15-times more scientists than are seriously involved in the United Nations IPCC project. The very large number of petition signers demonstrates that, if there is a consensus among American scientists, it is in opposition to the human-caused global warming hypothesis rather than in favor of it,” states Robinson. Signers include more than 9,000 Ph.Ds.
Most signatures were obtained by mailing to lists of university professors and a compendium that constitutes a “Who’s Who” of American scientists.
“How many scientists does it take to establish that a consensus does not exist on global warming?” asks Lawrence Solomon (Financial Post 5/17/08). He reviews the history of previous petitions, including the Heidelberg Appeal, which ultimately obtained 4,000 signatures, including 72 Nobel Prize winners. In numbers, the Oregon Petition Project vastly exceeds all others, having gathered some 17,800 signatures in 2001—“all the more astounding because of the unequivocal stand these scientists took.”
“Not only did they dispute that there was convincing evidence of harm from carbon dioxide emissions, they asserted that Kyoto itself would harm the global environment because ‘increases in atmospheric carbon dioxide produce many beneficial effects upon the natural plant and animal environments of the earth.’”
Robinson was urged to renew the effort to collect signatures by scientists who were “outraged at the way Al Gore and company were abusing the science to their own ends” (ibid.).
“Proposed political actions to severely reduce hydrocarbon use now threaten the prosperity of Americans and the very existence of hundreds of millions of people in poorer countries,” Robinson writes in the Frequently Asked Questions on a website that posts the Petition, a description of the Project, the list of signatories, and their qualifications.

This is a wonderful news release. It would be nice if Drudge would pick up this story to get some further publicity. Ignorance abounds in the general population.
The global warming alarmists are like those repeating a “big lie” over and over. After a while many peope start believing it. The Nazis propaganda machine had this figured out as did Stalin. Dissent is crushed.
Allow a free exchange of ideas in this arena as in all areas of science. Keep those with political agendas out of this.

About time! – economic forcings are creating an atmosphere of truth at last.
Each discipline today is limited, each delves into less and less to learn more becoming to become an expert in a given segment of their field of interest. Physicians are no different. Gore may be off base to some extent. Consider how much melt the Artic can give off before humans are forced to move inland. A century, two or more? Wether the Weather debate is true or not, man IS making a contribution to the polluting of MOther Earth. ANYthing that helps us to acknowledge our contribution to Global Warming and get us to stop assisting the warming is a postive. And why did the 1992 National Academey of Scientists publish a massive government report titled “Policy Implications of Greenhouse Warming” and then begin secretly chemically spraying our sky’s three years later and still to this day if they did not believe it was a human caused problem?
Not a surprise. For a guy who – by his own account – spends the last 30 years looking into the global warming issue and produces a 110 minute propaganda film containing 11 serious inaccuracies (British High Court ruling, 2007) is evidence enough on how shaky Gore’s ‘science’ really is. The fact that this poorly produced and error-filled ‘documentary’ won Gore an Oscar and a Nobel PEACE (?!?) Prize strongly indicates that the Global Warming hysteria is driven by politics rather than science. The stifling and ridicule of dissent from serious, qualified, and sincere members of the scientific community is further evidence of this. Below is the list of 11 inaccuracies in Gore’s ‘Inconvenient Truth’:
1 – The film claims that melting snows on Mount Kilimanjaro evidence global warming. The Government’s expert was forced to concede that this is not correct.
2 – The film suggests that evidence from ice cores proves that rising CO2 causes temperature increases over 650,000 years. The court found that the film was misleading: Over that period the rises in CO2 lagged behind the temperature rises by 800-2000 years.
3 – The film uses emotive images of Hurricane Katrina and suggests that this has been caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that it was “not possible” to attribute one-off events to global warming.
4 – The film shows the drying up of Lake Chad and claims that this was caused by global warming. The Government’s expert had to accept that this was not the case.
5 – The film claims that a study showed that polar bears had drowned due to disappearing arctic ice. It turned out that Mr. Gore had misread the study: In fact four polar bears drowned, and this was because of a particularly violent storm.
6 – The film threatens that global warming could stop the Gulf Stream, throwing Europe into an ice age: The Claimant’s evidence was that this was a scientific impossibility.
7 – The film blames global warming for species losses including coral reef bleaching. The Government could not find any evidence to support this claim.
8 – The film suggests that the Greenland ice covering could melt, causing sea levels to rise dangerously. The evidence is that Greenland will not melt for millennia.
9 – The film suggests that the Antarctic ice covering is melting; the evidence was that it is in fact increasing.
10 – The film suggests that sea levels could rise by seven meters, causing the displacement of millions of people. In fact, the evidence is that sea levels are expected to rise by about 40 centimeters over the next hundred years and that there is no such threat of massive migration.
11 – The film claims that rising sea levels has caused the evacuation of certain Pacific islands to New Zealand. The Government are unable to substantiate this and the Court observed that this appears to be a false claim.

Global warming is simply a creative way for Gore and his allies to justify the production of thousands of parasite jobs and creation of a commodities market (in carbon credits) out of thin air.

I have not been able to ascertain the number of scientists, engineers,etc. that make up the consensus that the “Debate Is Over ” on anthropegenic Co2.
I have found in excess of 31,000 of which over 9,000 are Phd’s by name who the Alarmists label Deniers.
It’s a crying shame that the environmentalist have a stranglehold on our Congressmen and Senators which has resulted in in excess of 30 years of inactivity in developing alternate soures of energy.
It is rediculous to even consider wreaking havoc on our economy to reduce emmissions which will probably result in reducing the temperature 0.02 degrees C bu 2050.

In January 2008 the keynote speech at the annual convention of the American Economic Ass’n was held by Nicholas Stern, the author of the Stern Review of global warming commissioned by the British government. He left no doubt that global warming is caused by human activities, is a grave danger to humanity and must be addressed at once. The most-likely scenarios are grave enough, but there are plausible although unlikely scenarios that could bring about global catastrophes, among other things by provoking mass human migrations within the next 2 centuries that would probably cause millions of deaths. In everyday English (without the scientific hypercorrection affected by global warming skeptics when they find it convenient) it is perfectly accurate to say that global warming “caused” Katrina. But the conventions of scientific speech when talking about probability make it technically inaccurate to use the term “cause” in this context. In scientific speech you have to use formulations like “global warming raised the likelihood of extremely violent hurricanes, thus making events like Katrina more probable”. For you and me, that means global warming caused Katrina.
With their characteristic cynicism, global warming skeptics place enormous stress on the growth of the Antarctic ice cap, while concealing its true cause. Snowfall over Antarctica is heavier nowadays, not because it’s getting any colder, but because the atmosphere is more laden with moisture. And the atmosphere is moister because more seawater evaporates due to higher temperatures caused by … global warming! I read that in an article in Scientific American, written by one of the top Antarctica glaciologists. She also warned that two of the three segments of the Antarctic ice-cap (the two smaller ones, fortunately) have become unstable because new meltwater underneath the ice threatens to make the glaciers slide into the sea. Another effect of global warming. If those glaciers slide into the sea, the sea level will rise substantially even before the ice starts to melt.

How The Milky Way Adopted Sagittarius: The great shock has been to find that 1 of these ‘dwarf galaxies’ has been found to be directly intersecting our local space and to be nearly on top of us. Astronomers could never understand, why, if Earth is part of the Milky Way, the angle was 60-90 degrees off in the night sky. They now understand it is because we are being pulled in, and only now in the final stages of being pulled in.
Gained Independence: It has now been established that we still have the same angle as Sagittarius, but that we have broken free gravitationally from it, and so we are now independent. It is only now a matter of time before we are finally pulled into the angle of our adoptive parent, the Milky Way. The researcher Matthew Perkins Erwin believes that Earth will be approaching the centre of the Milky Way in the year 2012.
2012 is the much debated date when the Mayan Calender ends, and as such, the end of the world has been forecast. The truth is that , no-one can really know exactly what will happen to the Earth. I believe that it would be a mistake to ignore the effects of the disturbance in Earth’s magnetic field, and that Earth will not die, but cataclysmic changes will take place.

United Nations Intergovernmental Panel On Climate Change (IPCC): The United Nations Has Different Agenda – Those with a different agenda have jumped onto a convenient band-wagon, making their case for a humanity causing global melt-down, and then been able to justify their claims that the planet is over-populated. Because of this we have found ourselves crippled by fuel taxes, industry taxes and fear, all of which is designed to weaken the will of humanity.
Governments Have Knowledge: Governments are well aware of what is really happening, and what the results will be, and are literally practising with ’small’ disasters, such as Katrina and the Asian Tsunami. The US have FEMA ready to take control, in the UK it will probably be called Civil Defence. In all events they will be ready to take advantage of any natural disaster.
Gravity Creates Energy: We know that planet Earth will be subjected to higher levels of gravity the closer that we are pulled into the Milky Way. This will make our sun burn hotter and emit higher energies, and we are seeing all the planets in the solar system heating up right now. The polar caps on Mars will soon be a thing of the past.
The Hidden Cause: This theory is, at the very least, worthy of attention. For instance, are you happy to be continually vilified by politicians pointing accusatory fingers, all the while consuming energy as they always did? Are you happy that this scientific study hasn’t once received any serious media coverage? Are you happy that no scientist is able to challenge Al Gore’s theories without losing both job and scientific credibility? Although Gore is a descendant of Roman Emperors Louis II, Charles II and Louis I and is therefore also a direct descendant of Charlemagne — the eight-century Emperor. Bush is closely related to every European monarch on and off the throne — including the King of Albania — and has kinship with every member of Britain’s royal family, the House of Windsor. Destined to be President, but because Gore is a cousin of Bush he is once more taking his place in the hierarchy.
FEMA Power: It is patently obvious that something is taking place, whatever that is, but for Fox News to persuade us that it isn’t, leads me to believe that FEMA laws and US Concentration Camps, may have something to do with it.

Global Warming means the average temperature for the whole earth. I don’t live on the whole earth I live in Oregon where we have had the coldest winter with snow 50% above average and it snowed in our mountains last night. Our road to Elk Lake is closed due to 6ft of snow. They say figures don’t lie but liars can figure. The last I heard was that the ocean temperature has not changed even one degree in the last 20 years.
Carl is chicken little and the sky is falling and Kai has been studying the whole cosmos and sounds learned till you get to conspiracy theories. There is so much information out there so we can fodder for anything we choose to believe.
Some people believe we are a sum of primordial accidents and others including me believe that creation needed a creator and all the information in our DNA needed a programmer. The Bible is an unusual book as it has God giving to certain prophets his plans for future events. What is amazing is that not only did these prophets predict that God was going to send a Messiah but what family lineage it would be, what town he would be born in where he would live and how he would die and how much would paid for his betrayal and many more. Our calendar is based on his birth and the last book talks about the end times and even predicted that the Jews would get Israel back after being scattered for over a thousand years.
So we can believe that the sun is in control or the Milky Way determines our faith. We can believe Al Gore, panic and believe that we are bad people who should destroy our economy and way of life. Sell you SUV. walk to work so the polar bears won’t get their feet wet.
What scares me is that the Democrats have bought into it and a good deal of Republicans are going along with not wanting to be anti- environment.

The reason this is posted and the reason everyone is so happy is not because this crowd is thinking about our responsibility not to “soil our nest”, but because they are angry at “big government” and will grab onto any story that rejects change. It seems the arctic has been slowly receding a fairly constant pace since the 18 th century. The increase of CO2 in the last half of this century has an upward trend that has not affected the rate of the arctic melting. Check the correlation to sun activity that is the source of our heat.
I am a geologist and have researched much of the global warming data available on both sides of the debate. I also have a minor in Applied Statistics and that’s the direction I want to go here. The Earth is at least 4.5 billion years old. That’s 4.5 billion years of possible temperature data (what we call the total “population”). When statisticians look at a population that is quite large, they take a random sample of the population. The sample must be sufficiently large to accurately represent a cross-section of the population. Even if I gave you 500 years of reliable temperature data (we don’t have anywhere near that much but let’s just suppose we do) that is a grossly inadequte sample when compared to the overall population (4.5 BILLION years). To make the statement that temprature data indicates global warming is akin to the following scenario. Take one eye dropper of water from a puddle in the parking lot and analyze it for every possible element or compound. Then take the result and say that you have characterized all of the surface water on the planet. It’s absurd. We do know that temperatures on our planet have been much colder and much warmer than any we have ever experienced in human history. How then can we claim that global warming is occurring? Or if it is, how can we know what’s causing it? We can no more destroy this planet than we can create it. Much less render it uninhabitable for human life.
The 13 June 2008 issue of Science contains encouraging indications that the nuclear physics community is about to discover the real nuclear energy source that powers the Sun and the cosmos.
On page 1476 of that issue of Science, R. Subedi and sixty-three (63) coauthors from a total of thirty-one (31) research institutions and universities report that electron beam experiments have revealed many more neutron-proton (n-p) pairs than n-n or p-p pairs in the C-12 nucleus [“Probing cold dense nuclear matter,” Science 320 (13 June 2008) 1476-1478].
This finding confirms our 2001 paper showing that n-p interactions are far more attractive than n-n and p-p interactions in all known nuclei [1].
In the 2001 paper [1] and elsewhere [2-3] we noted that n-n interactions are in fact repulsive. Neutron stars are therefore highly energized stellar objects with far greater energy per nucleon than a star made of hydrogen.
Authors of the June 13, 2008 paper in Science also conclude that “This difference between the types of pairs is due to the nature of the strong force and has implications for understanding cold dense nuclear systems such as neutron stars.”

In that petition of 32 000 “Scientists” only 39 claimed to be climatologists. The Remaining PHD’s held those degrees in disciplines such as dentistry and Veterinary science.
