The 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence should have been a triumphant celebration by all who love freedom. Yet changes that took place in last 50 years muted that joy with sharp dissonances. While defenders of America’s founding ideals slept, hostile factions seized power. When loyal Americans finally fought back, many efforts to restore the nation’s greatness backfired, empowering enemies they sought to defeat. For instance, Communism is rising from its ashes. Year 251 begins with electoral victories of Democratic Socialists (= communists) whose platform calls for demolishing our constitutional government.
Provisions in the Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) platform include abolishing the Senate and the Electoral College; replacing the presidency and the Supreme Court with leadership accountable to a unicameral legislature; full voting rights to noncitizens; public control over critical industries; single-payer, universal healthcare; a Green New Deal; treating “comfortable” housing as a human right; defunding or downsizing police departments and prisons; reparations for slavery; and “anti-imperialist” policy.
The abolition of private property is said to be the prime directive of the Communist Manifesto. Scott Hiley on the CPUSA website (tinyurl.com/43dvh7eb) calls this a “misinterpretation”—Marx meant the means of production. But N.Y. City Mayor Zohran Mamdami promises to seize property from the “worst landlords.”
Abdul El-Sayed (M.D., Columbia, 2014), winner of the Michigan Democratic primary for Senate, says he is “technically” not a member of DSA though he generally supports the above provisions including “Medicare for All.” He says that our “broken politics” is “making people sick.” He “isn’t against capitalism if there are sufficient guardrails” (https://tinyurl.com/2dw5v8je). He would be the first Muslim U.S. Senator.
While as a medical student El-Sayed allegedly said he had a life-long obligation to follow Sharia, he rejects allegations that he intends to subvert the Constitution and impose Sharia law. However, he criticizes efforts to ban implementation of Sharia law in conservative states (https://tinyurl.com/27dm8d7j). He has proposed replacing the 2nd Amendment with a constitutional right to healthcare (https://tinyurl.com/2z8yr6me)—which is not the same as health freedom. He reportedly purged 100 YouTube videos reflecting his “prior” views (https://tinyurl.com/dmb9x2er).
An electoral upset that empowers those determined to destroy us is perilous. Old legal remedies will not work. The Communist Control Act of 1954 (50 U.S.C. §§ 841–844) outlawed the Communist Party USA and criminalized membership in or support for the party or “Communist-action organizations”; both major parties recognized the threat. But questions of constitutionality (especially First Amendment rights) were raised. Although still on the books, the law is not enforced.
Communists are one of many threats to the American Way. In his 2016 Presidential campaign, neurosurgeon Ben Carson, M.D., stated that a Muslim should never be President of the U.S. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) called for him to drop out of the race (https://tinyurl.com/k7mm9d5w). Carson said that the tenets of Islam are inconsistent with American values. Recall that Barack Obama, widely believed to be a secret Muslim, called for the “fundamental transformation of America.”
The U.S. Constitution article VI states: “no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” Many American Founders, including Thomas Jefferson and John Adams, favored toleration of Islam. However, Theodore Roosevelt pointed out that “wherever the Christians have been unable to resist them by the sword, Christianity has ultimately disappeared.” And Winston Chutchill said that “the influence of [Islam] paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world” (Raymond Ibrahim, https://tinyurl.com/3khvmjcp).
America, as a sovereign nation, is a stumbling block to any philosophy that seeks a border-free totalitarian regime such as a caliphate (https://tinyurl.com/yrvp8d6k).
Americans and their European forebears are builders, inventors, discoverers, and creators. Their civilization is based on objective truth. It is threatened by those whose goals are destruction (= deconstruction) and who undermine its bearing walls of tradition and history. Owing to subversive influencers such as the Frankfurt School, an entire generation or two of American students walked into humanities classrooms as patriots and walked out hating their own country. These men and women make up the base of the DSA today. They believe wholeheartedly that nationhood is evil—that it is the thing producing injustice in the first place (ibid.).
The nation faces destruction of its institutions and industry by incompetents, of its economy and communities by an overwhelming influx of persons who will not assimilate, and of its liberty by socialism—through what the Polish call Zakłamanie —the Systemic Lie. They know what happens when civilization is not defended: the show trial, the compelled speech, the rewritten history, the ideological litmus test for employment (tinyurl.com/43wk46yr).
The Declaration of Independence begins by referring to the colonists as a “people,” who were “entitled” to a “separate and equal status” by the laws of nature and “Nature’s God.” Those words are the basis for all that follows (tinyurl.com/ywyd7wys). The “peoplehood” of Americans, their sense of belonging together in their own separate land, must be constantly defended.
Historical Notes on Islam
The Canadian government has spent some $60 million on initiatives to counter “Islamophobia.” In late 2024, the Biden Administration issued “the first-ever U.S. National Strategy to Counter Islamophobia and Anti-Arab Hate.” According to Ibrahim (op. cit.), Western peoples have portrayed Islam as a hostile and violent force for about 1,400 years—for good reason.
At its height, a caliphate once ran from Spain to India. Christian countries across North Africa were coercively “converted,” and Muslim warriors spent centuries launching wave after wave of invasion into Europe, a threat that outsized anything the Nazis managed. European Christians held the line.
In 718, Constantinople, the seat of the Eastern Roman Empire, unexpectedly managed to turn back a siege by 200,000 Muslims. In the words of historian John Julius Norwich: “Had the Saracens captured Constantinople in the seventh century rather than the fifteenth, all Europe—and America—might be Muslim today” (https://tinyurl.com/yc6muxzh).
In 732, Charles Martel (“the Hammer”) defeated invading Muslims at the Battle of Tours, saving western Europe from Muslim domination. His grandson Charlemagne was crowned in 800. The victory laid the foundation for the Holy Roman Empire.
In 1571, the Holy League under Don John of Austria, the illegitimate son of Holy Roman Emperor Charles V, annihilated the reputedly invincible Turkish fleet in the battle of Lepanto. Miguel de Cervantes was wounded in that battle, which was immortalized in G.K. Chesterton’s 1911 poem Lepanto.
From 718–1492, the Reconquista, Spain struggled to retake the Iberian peninsula from Muslim rulers. It ended with the capture of Granada and the unification of Spain under Ferdinand and Isabella. The Age of Discovery followed. Also the Spanish Inquisition. This was indeed tyrannical, but for comparison the Inquisition executed as many as 5,000 over 350 years (about 14 per year), after some due process, while the Ottoman Turks slaughtered hundreds of thousands of peaceful Christians in the 30-year genocide between 1894 and 1924 (tinyurl.com/47pbczkd).
In 1456, Belgrade was saved from an army of 100,000 Turks by Transylvanian voivode John Hunyadi and his 6,000 veteran fighters, plus 40,000 barely armed peasants recruited by 70-year-old friar John Capistrano (https://tinyurl.com/bddesn9c).
In 1683, the 150,000-strong Ottoman army was turned back at the gates of Vienna, thanks to the largest cavalry charge in history led by Polish king Jan III Sobieski. Without that victory, there would have been no Mozart, no scientific revolution.
Islam has not given up its objective of conquering Christendom. The Battle of Yarmuk in 636—just four years after Mohammed’s death—remains the chief source of inspiration and instruction for jihadists. T-shirts featuring the victorious general “the Sword of Allah” are sold in Egypt today. ISIS reflected what the Arabs said in 636: “We are told the blood of the Romans [replace with Americans] is the sweetest of its kind, so we came to shed your blood and drink it” (https://tinyurl.com/3abawrtn).
Will the Reconquista be reversed? About 60,000 Moroccans simply walked into the Spanish exclave of Ceuta, looting and vandalizing, leaving dozens of Spaniards dead.
“A Communist system can be recognized by the fact that it spares the criminals and criminalizes the political opponent.”

Tolkien’s Ring of Power
To teach a lesson about religious tolerance, German Enlightenment writer Gotthold Lessing told the parable of the three rings, representing Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. A father possessed a magical ring that made the wearer beloved by God and people. He planned to bequeath it to his favorite son. But he had three equally virtuous sons, whom he loved equally. So, he hired a goldsmith to create two fake rings indistinguishable from the original, and each son received one upon his death. How was the original to be discerned? A wise judge told each son to prove the goodness of his ring through his actions. They must live a life of love, kindness, and inner peace.
J.R.R. Tolkien told in fantasy what he knew from fighting in the trenches in World War I: things worth defending required actual defense by actual people willing to stand at the actual gate. Orcs are at the gate. The images coming from Ceuta, from Lampedusa, from streets of Paris and Malmö and Brussels are the images of a civilization that has left its walls unguarded and is watching, in real time, what happens next. Tolkien knew, writes Krzysztof Szczawinski (https://tinyurl.com/7f83acdd).
In the Tolkien legendarium, there were 20 rings, but the One Ring, to rule them all, was forged by Sauron in Mount Doom. “Islam in the West is [Tolkien’s] ring of power,” writes Dan Burmawi (https://tinyurl.com/tjesyjjt).
“Peaceful” Takeover
There is a species of ant that approaches another colony, kills a single worker, and takes on the dead ant’s scent. Wearing that scent, the intruder walks in with no resistance. It sprays the queen with a different scent that makes the workers turn on her and kill her. This is how ideological takeover works. The foreign ideology speaks the native vocabulary—justice, equality, compassion, rights, progress—and quietly changes what they point to. Then it alters how foundations are perceived. The civilization turns on itself. Its courts, universities, churches, media, and bureaucracies begin treating their own foundations as threats. They believe they are defending the system (https://tinyurl.com/4tbybkzv).
Formula for Prosperity
Consider two countries in same region, with same colonial inheritance, independence granted within years of each other. Singapore had no oil, no agriculture, no natural resources. It enforced contracts, respected property, and kept the currency sound. Malaysia redistributed wealth, enforced quotas, heavily taxed oil to fund patronage. Singapore GNP is now >$88,000 per capita vs. $14,000 in Malaysia (https://tinyurl.com/5n6zdanb).

Massachusetts Legalizes Late Abortions
Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey signed into law the “Prioritizing Patient Access to Care Act,” removing previous statutory restrictions on abortions after 24 weeks and allowing abortions later in pregnancy based on the “professional judgment of the physician.” Democrats applauded. The American College of Pediatricians (ACPeds) condemns the law, “which removes critical protections for viable preborn children and further entrenches abortion into state law” (https://tinyurl.com/yem9x54v).
About 2,500 third-trimester abortions occur annually in the U.S.—10% of U.S. homicides and the “second biggest cause of death among people under 18 (after congenital immaturity)” (https://tinyurl.com/56dhbezs).
‘Gold Standard’ Executive Order
President Trump’s EO concerning the childhood vaccination schedule will have no immediate effect because mandates and exemptions are decided locally. It does, however, put vaccines at the center of national discussions, over the objections of his advisors, who counseled silence ahead of midterm elections, writes Rick Jaffe, Esq. (https://tinyurl.com/28f96eys). It might set in motion changes in labeling, warnings, and adverse event reporting. Section 4(a) directs the Attorney General to further meritorious legal actions challenging state laws that conflict with obligations concerning parental authority, religious freedom, disability accommodation, and equal protection.
Most importantly, it might empower parents to ask more questions; e.g., about the experience of nations with fewer vaccines, which have not reported disease outbreaks, and the evidence supporting claims of safety and efficacy. Officials from major medical organizations criticized the order and support the current schedule. “There is no new evidence” to justify changes, and no new research is desired (https://tinyurl.com/2ab5rxfe).
California Medical Board Enjoined
In Kory et al. v. Bonta, et al., Judge William Shubb of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of California enjoined defendants Attorney General Rob Bonta and the medical and osteopathic medical boards from “investigating, prosecuting, accusing, or sanctioning Physician Plaintiffs (Dr. Pierre Kory, Dr. Le Trinh Hoang, and Dr. Brian Tyson) based on the viewpoint of the information, recommendations, or advice they give a patient about COVID-19, including a departure from the position of the public health authorities,” pending a final decision on the merits (https://tinyurl.com/37nxsz2x).
In 2022, California passed AB 2098, a law that made it professional misconduct for a physician to give a patient COVID advice that departed from the government’s position. Physicians sued and initially lost. The U.S. Supreme Court denied the appeal, but in March 2025 decided the case of Chiles v. Salazar (AAPS News, May 2026). The Court provided what Dr. Kory calls “correction and direction” to Judge Shubb by holding that a professional’s speech to a client is still speech, protected by the First Amendment, and not some lesser category of “conduct” that the government can freely script (https://tinyurl.com/5aa4a26k). For the moment, free speech has prevailed.
Science™ Takes the Fifth
In a heavily publicized hearing before the Senate Homeland Security Committee, former NIAID director Anthony Fauci, M.D., refused to answer a single question, invoking the Fifth Amendment protection against self-incrimination, despite Biden’s broad pardon. Much was made of “Tony’s Diary,” which was, according to Science, compiled by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., from notes Fauci posted on government servers since 2001. They were apparently intended for writing a memoir (https://tinyurl.com/u9drtr5p). Fauci’s private statements differed from public statements on COVID-19. Allegedly, efforts were made to cover up the lab-leak hypothesis for the origin of SARS-CoV-2, from NIH-funded research, and insist on a natural origin.
Pronouncements by Fauci, who called himself “the Science,” were decisive in implementing the government’s disastrous response to the pandemic, but were they criminal? Will any of the thousands who implemented them while abusing people and violating their rights ever be held accountable?
On a party-line vote, the Senate passed a resolution holding Fauci in contempt of Congress, a federal misdemeanor. If indicted by a grand jury and convicted, he could face up to a year in prison and a fine of $100,000. Steve Bannon and Peter Navarro each served four months.
Dr. David Morens, a former senior adviser to Dr. Fauci during the COVID-19 pandemic, pleaded guilty in federal court to a charge of conspiracy to defraud the United States; he was accused of concealing federal records related to coronavirus research. He could face 5 years in prison (tinyurl.com/442w6aw3).
Fraud in ‘Gender Medicine’
More than 225 hospitals and health systems have established pediatric gender programs nationwide, according to an August 2026 report released by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Wolves in White Coats: How Doctors and Hospitals Pushed and Profited from the Fraud of “Gender Medicine.” The report examined insurance coding practices, perverse financial incentives, and the provision of sex-rejecting procedures for minors. It identifies approximately $50 million in insurance claims for puberty blockers billed using endocrine disorder diagnostic code E34.9 (Endocrine Disorder, Unspecified). It further reports that nearly $11 million in claims for patients ages 13–17 were billed using a diagnosis code for precocious puberty E301.
“The medical establishment created what the report describes as ‘captive patients,’ placing vulnerable children on a path toward potentially lifelong medical interventions,” said Assistant Secretary for Health Admiral Brian Christine (tinyurl.com/5n6dpu6a).
Tip of the Month. “Credentialing” came about due to litigation against entities, including hospitals and insurance companies, based on physicians who plaintiffs alleged should never have been allowed on medical staffs or in insurance networks. Many today view credentialing as a universal practice and, for physicians who have Data Bank entries against them, the process of credentialing can seem daunting or impossible. But in some underserved areas, such as Arkansas, there is no credentialing process at some hospitals. The head of a department can grant medical staff privileges without jumping through the hoops of credentialing.

NY Passes Coercive Assisted Suicide Law. The radical leftists/socialists in New York State passed the MAiD law that requires all “healthcare providers” to comply, in arrogant defiance of the First Amendment. Four orders of Catholic nuns and several Catholic health ministries sued New York in Carmelite Sisters for the Aged and Infirm v. Letitia James (https://tinyurl.com/3cfavx84). If a federal court does not block the law, “healthcare providers” who refuse to take part in assisted suicide will face crippling fines, professional sanctions, and criminal penalties. The objective appears to be the same as with fines against Amish who refuse vaccine mandates: Destroy all religion and make sure that the state is the only religion people are allowed to have.

Advocacy Journalism. Many journalists are identifying their political beliefs as moral truths, making objectivity almost impossible. The idea of fair coverage is called “bothsidesism,” which opposes “moral clarity.” If actual facts about a certain position are presented, they may be framed in adjectives such as “far right” (= “extremist”). For example, in almost any Reuters or Associated Press story about Alternative für Deutschland, you do not merely encounter the party’s name, but rather “the far-right Alternative for Germany.” AfD is polling around 41 percent in Saxony-Anhalt—are 41% of Germans extremists when favoring policies that would have been recognizably conservative, or even mainstream, within living memory?
If citizens’ rejection of establishment choices is defined as bad information causing bad democratic choices, information control begins to look like defending democracy.

Where Was the Mainstream Media? Six years after the catastrophic mismanagement of the circulation of a then newly identified viral threat, we are apparently discovering the wreckage that incompetent governments, fake advisors, profiteers, and the WHO left behind. Someone should point out that we need the dam before the flood, not six years afterwards. Not only is it too late, but the lessons have not been learned, as instead of asking critical questions and holding the culprits accountable, we have the WHO trying to bind democratically elected governments to its perception of future “pandemics” or international incidents or whatever they want to call them. Where was the Main Stream Media (MSM) when daily government narratives went unchallenged? Where was the MSM when models were taken as reality? (They were concentrating on salacious details of modelers’ lives.) Did any section of the MSM remark that a police state cannot fight infections? Did any section inquire as to the welfare of those who asked questions like the two old geezers when they were under investigation by the University? If two academics can be investigated, professionally marginalized, or publicly vilified for asking inconvenient questions during an emergency, what lesson does the next generation of researchers learn?
The two old geezers witnessed the mink massacre.

‘Capitalism.’ Karl Marx popularized the word in the 1860s as a term of abuse, a label designed to make voluntary exchange sound like a conspiracy of the owning class against everyone else. Before Marx, the thing we now call capitalism was simply commerce, trade, production, the ordinary activity of human beings pursuing their interests through cooperation and exchange. Adam Smith in 1776 wrote about “the system of natural liberty.” Words shape arguments before arguments even begin. The socialist tradition understood that in 1867. Most of its critics still haven’t caught up.

The Effect of Censorship. What happens to medical standards if doctors can be delicensed for having a view alternative to the official version? In Stalinist Russia, all the doctors had to be ideological (and thus worthless). So, every time Stalin himself had a mild ailment, he had to get a non-ideological doctor.

The Architecture beneath Excellence. What made the West was the moral inheritance that dignified labor because man was made in God’s image, that demanded the maximum because the work itself was held to be sacred, that built a conscience capable of doing right when no one was looking. Islam carries the opposite logic in its bloodstream: minimum compliance, appearance over substance, fear in the place of conscience. It is a cultural disease that kills excellence slowly. It explains why for most of the history of the FIFA World Cup, the Arab world has barely been present at it. None of this is a verdict on any individual Muslim, many of whom carry within them exactly the drive the system is built to crush; that is why so many of them produce extraordinary work when they leave. It is an analysis of a structure. But the structure travels, and that is the part the West has not understood. Any failure in Islam is the fault of others. Breaking the model of grievance is treated as a crime—because the grievance is load bearing. Success is the true treason. Islam is a culture that kills excellence. The West must not import it.
