It is clear that America is more divided than even before the War Between the States. The Union and the Confederacy had a common language, common fundamental principles, and constitutions that were alike in most respects. They believed in the existence of right and wrong, good and evil. They differed on one issue that split the country apart and set brother against brother.
After the great bloodshed, the nation came together, and now virtually everyone would claim to agree that slavery is evil, that it is wrong for one person to own another, and that no one race is superior or has more rights than another.
Today’s great divide is not cleanly geographic. It is not accurately characterized as pro-Trump vs. anti-Trump, Democrat vs. Republican, conservative vs. liberal. It is certainly not the bourgeoisie vs. the proletariat or capital vs. labor as the Marxists classically portrayed it. With increasingly aggressive efforts to create enmity between “Us” and “Them,” we need to define these terms.
The Global Elite
The COVID-19 pandemic has starkly separated us. Millions had their lives turned upside down, but others kept getting their paychecks, or profited. Mandates are rewarding the compliant and punishing the independent-minded. The cancel culture is destroying reputations and careers of dissenters while hailing the promoters of FDA/CDC/NIH/HHS/Pfizer et al. COVID-19 protocols.
The same culturally dominant forces are also (coincidentally?) imposing Critical Race Theory, approval of or applause for the LGBTQxxx agenda, support for the most important or only right (abortion), and acceptance of politically correct lawlessness.
The results are appalling. The pandemic may by now be the longest plague in history. The middle class is being destroyed; hundreds or thousands have probably died unnecessarily; and medical services are seriously damaged by the Great Resignation. Simultaneously, those who hold traditional Western values and defend the Bill of Rights are marginalized as “bigots” or even “domestic terrorists” by the self-designated “mainstream.”
As has been true throughout history—with a few exceptions such as the early days of the American Republic, the two classes have been the rulers and the subjects. The rulers were previously identifiable. But the Hapsburgs, Hohenzollerns, and Romanovs are gone, and British royalty appears to be theater. Are American elected officials in charge? Joe Biden? Donald Trump? He caused great consternation in the Deep State but was constantly thwarted, and most of his policies have already been erased. Does Congress represent the electorate—or donors? And who are they?
If America is to be re-founded (AAPS News, July 2021), we need to know who “we” are, and who “they” are. Who is the foe?
Who are our few principled friends? Who are the opportunists, serving the perceived winners in their own self-interest? They may pose as friends but have struck a Faustian bargain that always ends in the same way—after many innocent people are harmed. Against a determined foe, the noble libertarian “live and let live” principle is as relevant as with predator and prey.
Could the chaos, divisiveness, economic carnage, and destruction of civil liberty wrought by lockstep COVID-19 policies in America, Europe, Canada, and Australia be a result sought by the real global rulers in the Great Reset strategy (AAPS News, November 2020 and October 2021)—unopposed by “friends”?
In their book COVID-19 and the Global Predators: We Are the Prey, reviewed by Dr. Marilyn Singleton, Peter Breggin, M.D., and Ginger Breggin conclude from vast research that “by a simple declaration of its own, a small group of individuals led by Bill Gates establishes a new world governance with which to deal with pandemics, thereby ultimately creating an authority that can bulldoze civilization in the service of its global predatory ambitions.”
Anthony Fauci, M.D., chief White House medical adviser and reputedly “America’s Doctor,” is the most prominent face of the coalition of forces described in The Real Anthony Fauci by Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.: “intelligence agencies, pharmaceutical companies, social media titans, medical bureaucracies, mainstream media and the military—that are using a health crisis to impose totalitarian control worldwide.” Kennedy concludes that the “Robber Barons” won in the war of COVID, and that “we have to love our freedom more than we fear a germ.” Roger Kimball comments that the book is part of a “reshuffling of seemingly settled ideological alliances” (https://tinyurl.com/ychrbuus).

Who Are “We the People”?
Forces are acting, whether separately or in concert, that could destroy our America. They are ruthless and full of guile. We need to recognize allies, friends, collaborators, traitors, opportunists, misguided distractions, and the Enemy by what they do or say—and, as importantly, by what they do NOT do or say.
Acts and Omissions
FDA. The Food and Drug Administration has slow-walked promising therapies such as favipiravir and aviptadil, while rushing authorization of novel gene-therapy “vaccines”; discouraged or suppressed “off-label” use of long-approved drugs, and reportedly is seizing imported ivermectin (https://tinyurl.com/2jhb8jr3); attempted to make potentially helpful, widely used over-the-counter products such as N-acetyl cysteine (NAC) unavailable.
Conservatism, Inc. What have chambers of commerce, the Republican Party, and conservative entities done about COVID lockdowns, deference to Fauci et al., the Warp Speed mass vaccination experiment, the war against life-saving treatment, rioting in 100 cities, and pervasive Wokeism? How much better off would we be if the same-old GOP regime comes back to power (https://tinyurl.com/32kkz5p3)?
Patents
Since coronaviruses are problematic for humans and animals, and people saw profit in developing remedies against them, they have been widely studied. Military strategists all over the world saw them as a potential weapon, but this does not negate the boring possibility that the mundane cold virus evolved on its own to a more virulent one and that this spontaneous event was used by Dark Forces as an excuse for their sinister plans. It is perplexing that anyone would patent a bioweapon, since this is not a good way to keep such a weapon secret.
A study by Liu et al. of the global landscape, involving 16,605 coronavirus-related patent documents (tinyurl.com/2p95ky7s), is said to form “a strong intellectual groundwork for the ongoing development of therapeutic agents and vaccines.”
The first coronavirus patent was granted in 1974. With the emergence of SARS-CoV, the number of patent documents increased rapidly from 2002–2006, plateaued 2006–2019, and peaked in 2020. Academia and government have played an increasing role. Strong collaborative international relationships are diagrammed in the article. China and the U.S. are major but not the only players. The top assignee, the Academy of Military Medical Sciences, “shows the military’s growing role in medical research in China, and partnerships between China’s People’s Liberation Army and medical-science companies.”
‘New Normal’ Totalitarianism
Classic totalitarian features—e.g. revocation of basic rights, centralization of power, rule by decree, oppressive policing, censorship, etc.—are impossible to hide, but are recontextualized in a pathologized official narrative. The Untermenschen become “the Unvaccinated.” Swastika lapel pins become masks. Aryan ID papers become “vaccination passes.” Senseless social restrictions and public-obedience rituals become health protection measures. The world is entangled in a total war against an internal, pathological enemy. Left vs. Right

COVID Vaccination Updates
Reproductive Health. In Waterloo, Ontario, 86 stillbirths, all in vaccinated women, were reported between January and July; there are normally five or six per year (tinyurl.com/2p85wbsm). In vitro fertilization clinics noticed problems starting with vaccine rollouts. Among other adverse events, the miscarriage rate jumped from 28% to 40%. The clinics do not track vaccination status (https://tinyurl.com/yckm4phc).
Epidemic Cardiovascular Death. In the UK, up to 300,000 British citizens are facing sudden heart-related illness and cardiac arrest. Medical experts are blaming PPSD (post-pandemic stress disorder). ERs and ICUs are overwhelmed. It is claimed that the U.S. VAERS system is also overwhelmed; there may be 20,000–60,000 deaths waiting to be processed (tinyurl.com/yc3s77wb).
Psychiatric Effects. Hallucinations, confusion, insomnia, agitation, psychosis, and suicide are among the more than 100,000 reported cases of psychiatric disorders following COVID shots (https://tinyurl.com/5cvaufvn).
Blindness. The UK Yellow Card system contains about 22,000 reports of eye disorders following COVID-19 shots, including 461 cases of complete blindness (https://tinyurl.com/yckrwznu).
Cancer Progression. A week after a booster dose of the Pfizer vaccine, CT/PET scan showed extremely rapid progression of an angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (tinyurl.com/2p8uhpx4).

Vaccine Liability Concerns
The liability protections enjoyed by COVID-19 vaccine manufacturers are not yet absolute. Alix Mayer, president of the board of directors of Children’s Health Defense, explains the rush to vaccinate children and the reason why Comirnaty is not fully approved. COVID vaccines are “covered countermeasures,” and the only compensation available to injured persons is under the Countermeasures Injury Compensation Program (CICP)—as long as the emergency continues. To get protection from the National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act of 1986, if the emergency ends, a vaccine must be approved and recommended for children under age 18. The convoluted language in FDA’s response to the Biologic License Application (BLA) for Comirnaty preserves its Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) status, and states that the product is “ready for approval,” but does not say it is “approved” for actually being administered to people. According to Mayer, Comirnaty is available in the UK, New Zealand, and other places, but not the U.S., because the company is “really scared of liability.”
If one fully approved product is available, she states that others could be at risk of losing their EUA (tinyurl.com/29y2j83w) and liability protection. Then they could not be used.
Note that Pfizer’s Paxlovid and Merck’s molnupiravir have been granted an EUA but are unapproved.
Lack of liability protection is the reason why millions of migrants and country-less people are being denied COVID-19 vaccines. Gavi, the vaccine alliance, has vaccine stockpiles, but can release deliveries only if vaccine-makers accept liability, since no government or nongovernmental organization (NGO) will do so (https://tinyurl.com/yck52c29).
Stare Decisis
This term’s major abortion case, Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, is about stare decisis, namely the extent to which members of this Court should defer to their predecessors’ opinions in Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Pennsylvania v. Casey, writes Andy Smarick.
While stare decisis is meant to be a conservative principle “in the sense of prizing continuity and predictability and preferring incremental to dramatic change,” progressive justices are the ones warning that overturning precedent due to political pressure would subvert the Court’s legitimacy.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh pointed out in oral argument that “taking the history of stare decisis seriously requires acknowledging that many of the Court’s finest moments came when it overruled precedent. He cited cases related to ending racial discrimination, protecting voting rights, strengthening the rights of the accused, and more.” All current justices have voted to overturn precedents in recent terms.
Kavanaugh frames the issue as one of self-government, with the people, not judges, determining the moral dimensions of policy. Solicitor General Elizabeth Prelogar argued that Roe and Casey expand liberty and curtail state power. Chief Justice Roberts observed that many cases in the Roe [rights-creating] era might be viewed as wrongly decided. “That is,” Smarick writes, “Roberts likely meant that fixing that era’s mistakes would be an extensive enterprise that could destabilize the law so the Court should just let most of those mistakes be” (tinyurl.com/ycyzasnd).
Tip of the Month: Nearly a year later, the government is still pursuing law-abiding citizens who went to the political rally in Washington, D.C., on Jan 6, 2021. Even a few Americans who did not enter the Capitol, a taxpayer-funded building that should be open to the public, are being harassed. The government is searching the internet looking for linkage between the rallies and individuals. It appears that the Deep State has become the equivalent of internet trolls, engaging in their investigations by merely surfing the internet. Is it time to leave social media and become active in old-fashioned ways, such as phone calls and private emails?
AAPS Files Amicus in Pain Doctor’s Case
On Dec 27, 2021, AAPS, along with Jeffrey Singer, M.D., filed an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court, asking the court to reverse the unjust conviction of Dr. Xiulu Ruan.
“The question presented, on which the circuits are deeply divided, is whether a physician alleged to have prescribed controlled substances outside the usual course of professional practice may be convicted without regard to whether, in good faith, he ‘reasonably believed’ or ‘subjectively intended’ that his prescriptions fall within that course of professional practice.”
Dr. Ruan is serving a 21-year sentence in federal prison, based on a small fraction of his prescriptions for pain patients. That he was acting in good faith was shown by an unsuccessful undercover sting operation against him, but that evidence and testimony by supportive patients were all withheld from the jury. In addition, the jury was misled that Dr. Ruan could have called anyone he wanted as a witness, although he was only allowed to call patients used by the prosecution.
“Juries are not trained to establish the outer limits of a highly skilled profession,” writes attorney Andrew Schlafly. “The proper task for the jury is to determine whether defendant was acting in good faith, rather than try to ascertain the boundaries of his skilled profession. It is the ultimate injustice for a compassionate and dedicated physician to be imprisoned for the rest of his active life for practicing medicine in a manner he thought best, based on his extensive training, for his patients” (tinyurl.com/2p86xe7z).
The Jury vs. the Politicians
Our Founders recognized the importance of the jury as a protection for liberty and a mediating institution between the individual and the state. “The judgment of the jury in the Rittenhouse trial represents the antithesis of the comments of the politicians on its verdict,” writes John O. McGinnis of Northwestern University (https://tinyurl.com/2jx73t29). “It represents the decision of an informed group drawn together under rules of evidence to encourage reasoned judgment. The comments of the politicians are those of people uninformed by the evidence who have reason to play to the crowd rather than exercise judgment.”
Comments by politicians, such as Joe Biden saying he was “angered” by the verdict, remind us that “our Founders created the jury system in large part to prevent powerful leaders from putting people in jail to satisfy their own political imperatives.”
McGinnis is concerned that the current political culture and irresponsible media reporting threaten the jury system. And as the Ruan case shows, prosecutors and judges can prevent the jury from seeing evidence needed to reach a just verdict.

‘Your Pain Is Not My Pain.’ The days when politicians would routinely offer the “I feel your pain” proclamation in an attempt to get your vote are apparently over. These days, your pain is inconsequential. According to the Buffalo News, a patient’s spine surgery was cancelled because of New York’s dictator Kathy Hochul’s executive order to cancel nonessential surgery in facilities with fewer than 10% of staffed acute-care beds available, in case a COVID-19 surge occurred. The patient fired off emails to Erie County Medical Center executives, or those whose email addresses she could guess, and managed to persuade them that she was in intractable pain and there was a high risk of harm from delay. Her work schedule would have been upended, and she would have had to meet another deductible if the procedure had been delayed past Dec 31 (tinyurl.com/44fwhyf6). Radical “progressives” (socialists) in power are engaging in blatant discrimination. Those who have the ability and means to advocate
for needed medical care may have a chance of getting it. Those who do not are run over by the tyrants like in Tiananmen Square.

Insurers Threatening Doctors. Amerihealth, a wholly owned subsidiary of Independence Blue Cross, which insures people in New Jersey and southeastern Pennsylvania, sent a threat letter to physicians about ivermectin. Not only did they say it was ineffective and that they wanted their members vaccinated, but they threaten to cut physicians who prescribe it out of the network. And worse yet, they threaten to report termination of the participation contract to the National Practitioner Data Bank.

The Source of Our Misery Is Obvious. When we sign contracts with ANY third party payer (private or government) we are no longer answering the call that drew us into what we thought was the noblest of professions. The payer, not the patient, has become the driving force behind every decision physicians make. It started under the guise of managing the cost of care. The last three decades have witnessed the net that once proud doctors find themselves caught in growing tighter and tighter. Unfortunately, the vast majority of new physicians have never known independence from corporate controls and have dutifully learned to play their game. Oath Breakers. In a fine essay that focuses on abuses by FBI agents, especially in intimidating citizens who simply showed up at the Jan 6, 2021, demonstration in D.C. The oath is taken by the military, by judges, by officials of all kinds, including members of Congress. I took the oath to
become a member of the Bar of Nebraska, Louisiana, and Texas.
Those who refuse to violate citizens’ constitutional rights in service to a political agenda or to follow orders will pay a price. But it is a sacrifice they agreed to make when they took the oath as a requirement to exercise the power of the state.
