COVID-19: Non-Treatment Is Proven Not to Work

I’m sure you are aware of the second wave of COVID-19 cases. It’s the Grinch that is stealing Christmas. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is predicting up to 282,000 deaths by Dec 5.

The standard nationwide U.S. policy of no treatment until patient is in hospital—promoted by public health authorities and reinforced by recent guidelines from the National Institutes of Health (NIH)—is a bold departure from the diagnose-and-treat-early concept applied to cancer, sepsis, heart attacks, strokes, influenza, and virtually everything else.

The Oath of Hippocrates requires treating “according to my ability and my judgment”— “for the good of my patients.” The academic medicine/American Medical Association/NIH/Fauci “standard of care” is “rigorous Science” and its “gold standard,” the randomized controlled trial (RCT).

The control group in nearly 200 trials of hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) and many trials of ivermectin, vitamin D, zinc, and other modalities has been no early home-based treatment. As shown in the figure below, there are no trials in which non-treatment of out-patients has been shown to be superior. There are a few in which HCQ showed higher risk in late treatment of hospitalized patients, especially when patients were given a toxic dose.

There are no RCTs on lockdowns or masks, but they are mandated anyway. So far they haven’t stopped the pandemic. Michael Osterholm, director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota, who was among those named to Biden’s COVID-19 Transition Advisory Board, says that these measures have not been consistent or severe enough. He said that shutting down businesses across the nation for a period of four to six weeks—while having the government underwrite all lost wages—would check the spread of the disease. In his view, only 39 percent of workers are “truly essential”; 61 percent of us are unneeded.

We can finance this from the domestic savings of workers who are curtailing their spending as by not eating out, and thus not have to borrow from foreigners, he explains.

Osterholm claims that Australia and New Zealand were saved by their draconian measures.

New Zealand, which has had 25 deaths and 73 currently active cases (1,873 recovered cases), has opened 32 mandatory quarantine camps for new cases. The U.S CDC calls for “isolation camps” with separation of family members (and probably non-treatment) as part of a “Shielding Plan.”

There are some studies showing that masks are somewhat effective, and a report of two (2) masked hairdressers who did not infect clients. The Pfizer vaccine has been claimed to be 90% effective, based on results in 94 patients. Remdesivir has shown benefits in three studies (one an RCT), and a negative result in one RCT. There are only negative results for non-treatment in studies involving thousands of patients worldwide.

When then-AIDS czar Anthony Fauci refused to suggest prophylactic Bactrim in 1987, some 17,000 AIDS patients died of pneumocystis pneumonia awaiting an RCT not completed until 1989. There may be more than 100,000 needless deaths because of non-treatment of early COVID.
