John Boehner went to the White House, and reportedly said “I put $800 billion (in tax revenue) on the table. What do I get for that?”
“You get nothing,” the President said. “I get that for free.”
Obama apparently has no intention of any concessions whatsoever, and is supremely self-confident of his ability to control the message so that the Republicans are blamed and demonized.
On a Sunday television show on Dec 30, Obama claimed that if one looks at the facts, “what you have is a situation here where the Democratic Party, warts and all, and certainly me, warts and all, have consistently done our best to try to put country first.”
However, it requires no more than first-grade arithmetic to understand that his reckless spending is the major problem, and that without slashing spending, rather than “trimming” the rate of growth of spending, this nation cannot prevail. It’s the recipients of that spending that come first with him.
When Obama says, “I think you can rest assured that all I care about is making sure that I leave behind an America that is stronger, more prosperous, more stable, more secure than it was when I came into office,” it is impossible to believe that he is not mocking us. How can a bankrupt nation, loaded down with still more taxes and regulations that have been kept in the dark pending Election Day, be strong, prosperous, or stable?
Obama attended Columbia University, where Richard Clowen and Frances Piven had come up with their idea of overwhelming the nation with so much government spending, entitlement welfare, and fiat money that in the resulting chaos, the nation would collapse, and could easily be shackled to Marxist principles and practices. Obama was an acolyte of Saul Alinsky, who had similar ideas. Can Obama really believe that this strategy could possibly have any other result?
Obama stuffed money into the pockets of unions and his other supporters, (our money, not his), with his dishonestly named “stimulus.” Then he delegated virtually unlimited power over our medical care to bureaucrats in the grotesquely misnamed “Affordable Care Act” (ObamaCare), which is above all else an enormous middle-class tax increase. This was also kept strategically hidden, beginning to take effect only after he was safely re-elected.
Obama postures as our savior, who will turn back sea-level rise, tame the winds of hurricanes, and forestall a rise in global temperature, all through taxing the carbon fuels that run our economy and subsidizing competitors like now-bankrupt Solyndra. He’ll also bring about “health equity” by dictating insurance coverage, taxing innovation, mandating reports, and subsidizing those who comply with the bureaucrats’ guidelines.
Obama doesn’t need to win over the House. He has Harry Reid in command, with one-Party if not one-man rule, in the Senate. And what he can’t get through Congress can be achieved by shredding the Constitution, using agency rules, or executive order.
Obama apparently feels confident enough to sneer at the 50% of Americans he considers enemies. He tells his adherents, “Voting is the best revenge.” We aren’t totally certain of the target or the exact nature of the revenge. Clearly, the “rich” are in his sights, as are those who drive vehicles he considers too big, at least for people who are less important than he is.
How can we believe that Obama will observe his oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution, after trampling on it with ObamaCare, starting with the Origination Clause? He has openly refused to implement certain laws, on immigration and marriage. He has run the government without a budget for 3 years.
If this Administration “negotiates,” it is using an Orwellian definition of the word.
Physicians and patients can hardly expect Obama to save medicine-or to allow them any meaningful say in any negotiations.
