On January 22, 2015, Rep. Michael Turner (R-OH) with 31 cosponsors introduced and referred to the House Ways and Means Committee H.R. 519, a bill to amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to repeal the individual and employer health insurance mandates. On January 21, 2015, the Senate joins the House in introducing another bill to kill the ACA’s individual mandate. On January 21, 2015, Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT) with 22 co-sponsors introduced and referred to Senate Finance Committee introduced S. 203, a bill to restore Americans’ individual liberty by striking the Federal mandate to purchase insurance.

A catch-all bill was introduced and referred to the Senate Finance Committee on January 13, 2015 by Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA), S. 157, the No Obamacare Mandate Act, a bill to repeal the medical device tax and the employer and individual responsibility requirements of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.

On Jan 13, 2015, Rep. James Renacci (R-OH) introduced and referred to the House Ways and Means Committee H.R. 290, Creating Access to Rehabilitation for Every Senior (CARES) Act of 2015. Although this is a bill designed to reduce expenses for patients, it expands government involvement in medical care. This bill would eliminate the 3-day prior hospitalization requirement for Medicare coverage of skilled nursing facility services. In other words, coverage would be provided for an individual services in a skilled nursing facility that are not post-hospital extended care services.
