ObamaCare Taxes Media Round-up: 4/17/2014

Despite claims they only want to raise taxes on the “rich,” President Obama and Democrats’ signature healthcare law contains 7 new taxes that directly affect those that make less than $250,000 (Americans for Tax Reform).

There are a plethora of new taxes created by the Affordable Care Act, totaling $409 billion over the next 10 years. Besides taxes on individuals, there are also new taxes on insurance companies, drug makers, and medical device manufacturers (Fox News).

Even though Obamacare introduced many new regulations and taxes, broadcast networks have done an underwhelming job of reporting on it (NewsBusters).

The Congressional Budget Office reported this week that reduced subsidies from the Federal government because of lower than expected health premiums will help cut the long-term cost of the program 7% over the next decade (Los Angeles Times).

Major tax preparers are pushing the White House to permanently extend the enrollment deadline for 2015 to April 15th, to align with the deadline to file income taxes (Kaiser Health News).
